Overview

An exploration of fun with numbers. It started with compiling a raw data set of all locations referenced in a snowboarding magazine. This was data was then broken down from a global perspective, across North America, by the individual resorts and mountains mentioned, and where photographs were taken. Within these four groups trends were sought out to express what locations were covered most in the issue as well as exploring the personality of these areas. From there significant points were built into assorted graphs with highlights called out individually in text. And finally the whole project was animated to make the information engaging. Beyond simply making data beautiful, this personal project serves as example of the designer’s enjoyment of working with numbers as well as utilizing design in its most basic form as clear, engaging, communication.
